We finally had somewhere to sleep for the night. After a few more tours of the property we found a key in the door of Room 14. Happy Days we thought! We walked around the apartments and could not find any such room.
But there was a ray of light as there was a note on the door telling us we where in room 114. So off we went with our luggage to Elbamar Lacona Hotel 2, which was.yes you've guessed it.down the hill! We arrived at Elbamar Lacona Hotel 2 and the reception was closed. Luckily we have Italian friends we could call and they eventually found out that we weren't booked in at the Elbamar Lacona Hotel but maybe we were booked in at Elbamar Lacona Hotel 2! Obviously we had never even known they had 2 locations and nothing was mentioned in the booking confirmation.
We called the number on the door and got through to a woman that only spoke Italian (a general problem in Elba). Reception was closed and no one was there. We finally dragged our language up the hill to Elbamar Lacona Hotel. (Note - Lacona is not really a town but more a spread out settlement of guest houses and hotels). We asked in a local restaurant and they had heard of Elbamar Lacona Hotel and it was about 1.5 KMs up a hill. No one on the bus had heard of Elbamar Lacona Hotel so we used a TomTom on a phone to get off at the right place. During the longish bus ride which does it's best to go everywhere but Lacona I got a call from someone from TESI Viaggia (apparently the booking company) telling us we should have checked in and paid at Portoferraio! I told them we were already on the bus and after some negotiation they agreed to sort out the payment the next day by credit card and that the housekeeper would what at our accommodation to show us to our apartment. We figured out we could take a bus to Lacona on the other side of the when we arrived.

Let's start at the beginning Firstly, no one replied to my email requesting information on how to get the accommodation from Portoferraio where the ferry docks. I don't normally write negative reviews if I can help but I feel I had to share this with anyone planning on booking this place.
Guests planning to arrive outside of normal check-in hours must contact the property in advance for check-in information. Guests arriving after 7:30 PM must make advance arrangements by contacting the property using the information on the booking confirmation. To arrange for check-in, guests must contact the property at least 72 hours prior to arrival using the information on the booking confirmation. The front desk at this property is open daily from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Guests should proceed directly to the Tesi Viaggi office, Calata Italia, n☁7 - Portoferraio on the first floor, for check-in assistance upon arrival. Guests planning to arrive outside of normal check-in hours will receive an email with check-in instructions. If you are planning to arrive after 7:30 PM, please contact the property in advance using the information on the booking confirmation. To make arrangements for check-in, please contact the property at least 72 hours before arrival using the information on the booking confirmation. The front desk is open daily from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM.
